Lukas Rieppel (Postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern, History; Harvard Ph.D 2012)

Rieppel is a historian of modern biology with interests in cultural, environmental, and economic history of the 19th, and 20th century, with a technical background in evolutionary biology.  His current manuscript, Assembling the Dinosaur: Money, Museums, and American Culture, 1870-1930, addresses connections between museum collections, constructions of the biology of the dinosaur, and modern capitalism.  He also has a MA in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and does lab work on mitochondrial DNA.
