research description:
My study of writing-in-the-disciplines is heavily influenced by Stephen Toulmin’s and others’ argument that conceptual change is an evolutionary process and is somewhat field-dependent. Particularly important to my work is Toulmin’s book Human Understanding: The Collective Use and Evolution of Concepts.
